I. The Coming King - (I would suggest that you start about 37 minutes into the video)

John 18:37 – Pilate therefore said to Him, Art thou a King then? Jesus answered and said “You say correctly that I am a King. For this cause born and for this cause I came into the world.

A. In an unconditional covenant, the Lord promised the land of Palestine to Abraham and to the seed of Israel forever. Ps. 105

1. The same Lord God promised David that he would have a Son that would reign forever over Israel.

2. Isaiah 9:2-7 described a glorious King in the seed of the line of David.

3. 750 years later the Angel Gabriel was sent to Mary in a little village of Nazareth that she would be the mother of this foreordained child. Luke 1:35

4. Upon the night of nights, this child was born.

B. His credentials to be king.

1. At 30 years old, Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist in the river Jordan and He immediately went forth to declare the coming of the covenant Kingdom and present Himself as the coming King.

2. He carried within Himself the credentials of his Royalty and Kingship by family descent. Both by legal right (Joseph) and through blood (Mary) inheritance He was King.

a. Through Mary He descended from David through the line of Nathan (Solomon’s older brother and rightful heir to the throne).

b. Through Joseph, adopted child to His stepfather, He descended from David through Solomon.

3. His Credentials of a sinless life.

4. His Credentials of wonderful words.

5. His credentials of wonderful works. (John 21

6. His credentials of fulfilling prophecy, over 313 old testament prophecies, fulfilled in one man. The chances against that are so great that if you covered a state the size of Texas 2 feet deep with silver dollars and marked on red. That a blind man might find it.

7. He came to Jerusalem within 1 day as prophesied earlier, over 400 years before. In Daniel 9:24,25 we find that 69 of the 70 weeks starting from the command to rebuild Jerusalem which occurred according to Ne 2:1 in the 20th year of Artertaxes on 14 March BC 445. According to the year/day scale. 1 Day prior to the day that Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a foal of a donkey in which the people proclaimed, “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord, Hosannah in the highest to the Son of David.

C. He was prophesied to be the Rejected King:

1. The Jews accused Him of sedition before Rome and Caesar, “ He wants to be a King.

2. Rome put a purple robe, a crown of thorns, a reed in His hand as a scepter.

3. When Pilate said, “shall I crucify your king, they said that they have no king but Caesar.”

4. He came to His own and His own did not receive Him.

D. He is an exiled and exalted King:

1. He went away into another country (Luke 19), into heaven, sat down at the right hand of God the Father where He awaits the consummation of the age of the Gentiles.

2. He is also exalted in the heavenlies. After His resurrection He was given by God the Father far greater authority over the Church and over the Universe. God raised him up and made him sit at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but in that which is to come; and He has put all things under His feet and has made Him the head over all things for the church” (Eph 1:20-22, Matt. 28:18)

3. The authority over the church and over the universe will be more fully recognized by people when Jesus returns to earth in power and great glory to reign. Matt. 26:64, 2 Thess. 1:7-10)

4. In the interlude, God is calling out of this world a people for His Son. Wherever there is a man who would turn and believe he is added to the family of God, the Church, the Bride of Christ.

5. What about that kingdom? Is there to be no kingdom? Has God forgotten His kingdom. The answer is a hearty NO!!!

E. He was prophesied to be the coming King:

1. He came first as the thief in the night (dispelling the Gospel).

a. A thief to steal away His jewels (Church) out of the world. His pearl of great price that is hidden in the field.

2. He is coming in the Parousia, the apokalupsis, openly and every eye shall see Him.

3. He is coming in the Glory of God as the Son of God.

4. He is coming in the glory of Angels as the Captain of the host of heaven.

5. He is coming as the bridegroom for His bride.

6. He is coming in His own Glory as the Son of God, the Virgin born son of Man.

a. The Son of Abraham

b. The Son of David

c. The Son of Man crucified

d. The Manifest and Eternal Son of the Most High.

e. King of the Jews

f. King of the Nations

g. King of Kings and Lord of Lords

h. The Lord God

My King

The Bible says: My King is King of the Jews, He is the King of Israel, He is the King of Righteousness, He is the King of Ages, the King of Heaven, the King of Glory, The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords

That is my King, I wonder, Do you know Him?

My King is the Sovereign King, No means of Measure can define His limitless love. He is Enduringly Strong, He is Entirely Sincere, He is Eternally Steadfast, Immortally Graceful, Impartially Merciful.

Do you know Him?

He is the greatest phenomena that has ever crossed the Horizon of our World.

He is God’s Son, The sinner’s Savior, The centerpiece of civilization, He is unparalleled, Unprecedented, The Loftiest Idea in Literature, The Highest Personality in Philosophy, The fundamental doctrine of True Theology and the Only One qualified to be an all-sufficient Savior.

I wonder if you know Him Today?

He supplies strength to the week, He is available for the tempted and the tried, He sympathizes and saves, He strengthens and sustains, He guards and He guides. He heals the sick, He Cleanses the Lepers, He forgives sinners, He discharges Debtors and delivers the Captives, He defends the feeble, He Blesses the young, He serves the unfortunate, He regards the Aged, He rewards the diligent and He beautifies the meek.

I wonder if you know Him?

He is the key to knowledge, He is the wellspring of wisdom, He is the door of deliverance, He is the pathway of peace, He is the roadway of Righteousness, He is the Highway of Holiness and He is the Gateway of Glory.

Do you know Him?

His life is matchless, His goodness is limitless, His Mercy is everlasting, His love never changes, His Word is enough, His Grace is sufficient, His reign is righteous, His yoke is easy and His burden is light.

I wish I could describe Him

But He is indescribable, He is incomprehensible, He is invincible, and He is irresistible

Well, you can’t get Him out of your head, you can’t get Him out of your heart, You can’t outlive Him and you can’t live without Him. The Pharisees couldn’t stand Him but they found they couldn’t stop Him. Pilate couldn’t find any fault in Him. Herod couldn’t kill Him, Death couldn’t handle Him and the grave couldn’t hold Him. Yeah, that’s my King.
